Practicing Radical Self Care: An Act of Liberation
Thursday, June 10, 2021
6:30-8:30pm EDT on Zoom
The healing workshop is offered by these partners as a strategic opportunity to reset our mind, body, and spirit for greater clarity and renewal.
In this workshop, we will utilize our time together to:
Expand our knowledge of what self-care is, why it is essential, and how it is a radical act of liberation.
Engage in self-care practices to intentionally reconnect to our mind, body, and spirit as a form of healing justice.
Cultivate the wisdom in our community around self-care practices that are grounded in our knowledge and lived experiences.
We will also offer four separate break-out sessions focused on self-care practices in the areas of Mindfulness and Joy through Art Making, Drumming for Empowerment and Wellness, Gentle Movement and Stillness as Care: Seated/Standing Yoga and Qigong, and Racial Stress and Strategies for Fostering Resilience. These activities were designed primarily with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in mind, but anyone can draw inspiration from these practices and approaches.
*NEW* We are excited to launch Shanthi Project's BIPOC Healing Collective!
Shanthi Project’s BIPOC Healing Collective was created by and for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to provide a kind, engaged and open community for the BIPOC community to gather and practice together. This group cultivates mutual support and understanding among people of color who find nourishment and inspiration in contemplative practices teachings to help us access transcendent wisdom and emotional balance.
The eight session series is facilitated by, Erica T. Mahady, PhD Candidate, MA, PCC. As principal of Illumination Consulting Partners, Ms. Mahady is a dedicated professional with more than 15 years of experience as an organizational and leadership development consultant, educator, researcher, author, mindfulness practitioner and certified executive coach.
These meetings will begin with a guided meditation and will also include embodied practices, mindful reflections, check-ins, and song. Space will be held for all that is present in a way that supports a trauma-responsive approach, self and collective care, and community and connection.
The series consists of eight (8) meetings, facilitated by Erica and Guests on Thursdays 6:30pm-8:00pm EDT via Zoom.
